Title: TE VAI – TE ORA / TE VAI – TE OĀ / WATER – LIFE

In what way does oral tradition carry knowledge, and how can that knowledge challenge Polynesian society’s collective consciousness around today’s issues? Faʻaʻī — filling with knowledge — is the theme of this lecture cycle. The intent is admirable, but what do we do with that knowledge?

Speaker

Retired from the French education system, Edgar Tetahiotupa is a member of the Centre for New Pacific Studies (EA 4242, University of New Caledonia) and of the Haururu cultural association. His work focuses on Polynesian languages and cultures, translated into training and action projects linked to contemporary Polynesian society.

Cycle organised by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Culture, in partnership with Te Fare Iamanaha – Museum of Tahiti and her Islands.
