Polynesian space and time — Haururu Association
Object of the lecture
The lecture addresses the knowledge gathered by the Haururu Association over more than thirty years, through studies led by several specialists and through exchanges with cultural communities from Hawaiʻi and New Zealand. It begins with a presentation of the association, followed by the theme Matariʻi i raro — Polynesian space and time, and by the sharing of rituals and ceremonies surrounding Matariʻi i raro.
Speaker
Johann Hironui Bouit, active member of the Haururu Association for 15 years, lecturer at the University of Hawaiʻi (Hawaiʻinuiākea Center for Knowledge). A media personality in Polynesia and Hawaiʻi, born in Hawaiʻi and raised in Polynesia, of Polynesian parents from Tahiti and Raiatea. Johann has worked as a journalist and communication consultant in health, sport, tourism and education.
